- Yes, the Apple Vision Pro allows users to view NSFW content, including online pornography.
- However, Apple’s App Store continues to ban pornographic apps, in line with its long-standing policy against “objectionable content”.
- The device’s capability to access NSFW content is not through apps but via standard web browsers.
Following hot on the heels of many exciting tech releases in recent months — Samsung’s first-ever ‘Galaxy AI’ phone and the all-titanium iPhone 15 are prime examples — Apple is set to release its first major foray into virtual- and augmented-reality space in the form of the Apple Vision Pro.
Tech nerds around the world are understandably very excited to test out its potentially mind-bending capabilities, with the product offering massive potential for users from all walks of life to reimagine the ways they work, create, and play. Indeed, it’s that latter desire we want to hone in on today…

Those with a penchant for using new gadgets to indulge in adult content are, ultimately in luck: the Apple Vision Pro can be used for watching pornography and any other kind of NSFW content the internet has to offer. However, there’s one significant limitation to the Vision Pro’s abilities in this area which keen consumers should be aware of to avoid ill-timed disappointment…
Apple has always banned pornographic apps from being released into the App Store since the store’s very foundation, with former head honcho Steve Jobs making it clear that this was a moral issue for the company on which they would not budge; Business Insider has more detail on this.
While current CEO Tim Cook has been less outwardly vocal about Apple’s stance on the issue, the ban still remains very much in place, and a quick skim of Apple’s guidelines for app developers makes it clear that “objectionable content” has no place on the App Store and that pornography falls clearly under this umbrella.
Naturally, users have nevertheless found an obvious and near-unblockable method of accessing the adult content they love: the trusty old web browser. The Vision Pro, naturally, comes equipped with such a browser and users will be able to access explicit content through it, but anyone purchasing a Vision Pro with the hopes of a mind-bending, load-blowing, futuristic VR porn experience should prepare for disappointment.
What Is Porn Addiction?
While porn use in moderation can be a very healthy thing, it’s easy to get carried away. If you find yourself wondering whether you fall into that camp, here’s some expert-backed information on porn addiction lifted from a previous DMARGE article.
Porn addiction refers to, as per Medical News Today, “a person becoming emotionally dependent on pornography to the point that it interferes with their daily life, relationships, and ability to function.”
Porn addiction is often closely related to a masturbation addiction, with each fuelling the other.
DMARGE has previously spoken with Samantha Jayne, Channel 10’s relationship advisor to The Bachelor, all about porn addiction. She said excessive consumption of pornography can alter your brain chemistry, “causing major issues in relationships, reducing confidence levels, increasing anxiety and impairing sexual performance.”
“The overstimulation [brought on by excessive porn consumption] results in a heightened expectation of self-gratification rather than an intense experience of togetherness — and that equals bad sex.”

Porn Addiction Symptoms
This one’s fairly straightforward. Apart from any addiction being a weakness to get over, “Several studies have found that internet porn, in particular, is killing men’s sexual performance, to the point where sexual enhancement drugs no longer work,” says Samantha Jayne.
Even worse, “Long-term use of porn,” she says, “Can inhibit a person’s ability to emotionally connect with another person, leading to a very superficial relationship with a lack of true intimacy and feelings of isolation and emptiness.”
This has resulted in us as a species, “Getting worse at staying present (as we are) so caught up in this virtual world.” And when we stop connecting we stop intimacy, “And as a result it impacts the quality of sex.”
Luke Vu who specialises in pornography and internet addiction, has previously told DMARGE about other symptoms of a porn addiction. They include:
- You repeatedly fail at your attempts to control your porn use
- You regularly use more porn (or more intense porn) than intended
- You use porn as a means of avoiding negative emotions or problems
- Your porn use is interfering with your daily life i.e. work, study, relationships and health
