Josh Giddey’s Basketball Career
Adelaide 36ers
Josh Giddey’s professional basketball debut came with the Adelaide 36ers, an Australian basketball team that is part of the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia. When he joined, he was placed into the league’s Next Stars program, which aims to find players talented enough to join the NBA in the USA. In doing so, Josh Giddey became the first Australian basketball player to be a part of the program.
During the 2020-21 season with the Adelaide 36ers, Josh Giddey was named NBL Rookie of the Year and became the youngest Australian basketball player to record a triple-double (scoring 10 or more points in 3 of the 5 scoring categories) in one game, as well as being the first Australian player to record a triple-double in consecutive games.
Josh Giddey was released at the end of the season to go into the official NBA draft. He left the Adelaide 36ers as the NBL Rookie of the Year.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Josh Giddey declared himself for the 2021 NBA draft and was chosen as the sixth overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, on the same day he signed his contract with the team, he suffered an ankle injury when competing in the pre-season NBA Summer League competition.
Fortunately, he was still able to make his NBA debut on 20 October and in the following game on 27 October, Giddey recorded his first double-double in the NBA. In doing so, he became the third-youngest player to record at least 10 assists in a game, behind only LeBron James. In fact, LeBron has spoken highly of the Australian youngster, saying “he’s really, really, really good”, has “great vision” and “play[s] beautiful basketball”, Fox Sports reports.
Josh Giddey bested LeBron in January 2022, however, when he became the youngest-ever NBA player to record a triple-double.
Giddey played the best game of his career (so far) with OKC against the New Orleans Pelicans during the play-in tournament ahead of the 2023 NBA playoffs on April 12, 2023, where he scored 31 points (25% of OKC’s total points for the game), 10 assists, 9 rebounds and recorded a 50% field goal percentage in his first-ever postseason game.

Josh Giddey Girlfriend
Josh Giddey’s romantic life isn’t as high-profile as his time spent on the court, with the rising Australian star seemingly more private about who he’s involved with.
Earlier this year, rumours were circulating that Josh Giddey was dating Megan Eugenio aka Overtime Megan after she posted a picture of herself and Giddey on X – formerly Twitter – after Oklahoma played the Pelicans last season. This was quickly dispelled, however, as it was suggested Eugenio was involved in an open relationship with Cole Schwindt.
Liv Cook
Videos surfaced on the social networking platform X – formerly Twitter – of Josh Giddey allegedly romantically involved with an underage girl named Liv Cook, a junior from high school.
While recording a video for Cook’s brother, Giddey is seen wrapping his arms around her and referring to her as “my girl,” in a video that’s unsettled X users. The original post has been removed and the user’s account has been deactivated, but that hasn’t stopped people from spreading it around the site.
Giddey’s Law Suit
In November 2023, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey faced online accusations of an inappropriate relationship with a minor named Livv Cook. Initially unverified, these allegations spread rapidly across the internet, prompting NBA involvement and a police investigation by the Newport Beach PD. After nearly two months, the investigation concluded, determining whether Giddey would face charges had the accusations proven true or Giddey found guilty, it could have spelled the end of his NBA career.
The Newport Beach Police Department has officially closed the investigation into Josh Giddey’s alleged sexual involvement with a minor in February 2023. Due to the lack of cooperation from all parties involved, including the potential incident’s lack of corroboration, no charges will be filed against the Thunder star. This indicates that none of the involved parties were willing to engage with the police, thereby clearing Josh Giddey of any wrongdoing. Despite being cleared, Giddey endured extensive online trolling from global audiences aware of his case. Throughout the accusations and investigation, Giddey continued playing for the Thunder as if nothing had happened.
Josh Giddey Avoids Charges
On 17 January 2024, it was announced that Josh Giddey wouldn’t be facing any charges in California for being in a relationship with a minor. The Newport Beach Police Department claimed it was “unable to corroborate any criminal activity” regarding the alleged relationship.
Josh Giddey Style
Josh Giddey is probably one of the best-dressed Australian athletes on the planet right now, full stop.
Unlike some of his NBA colleagues – who have a constantly evolving, somewhat wacky approach to fashion – Josh has a pretty defined aesthetic, and it’s one that works really well for him.
He’s a fan of denim, regularly pairing black jeans with a contrasting trucker’s jacket, and paired with white or light-coloured sneakers (he’s a Nike athlete, so we’d say he’s got Air Force 1s and Dunks on tap). It’s a look that anyone who’s spent time around inner-city Sydney or Melbourne would be intimately familiar with – don’t call it a Canadian tuxedo, it’s a Fitzroy fit.
It’s also a very versatile look that complements his height well and can be easily jazzed up with a cool accessory, such as a luxury timepiece. Giddey’s not been in the NBA for long but he’s already got a few: his favourite watch seems to be his Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph (not sure of the exact reference) but he’s also been spotted with what looks like an OMEGA Speedmaster.
Speaking of luxury, Giddey has definitely discovered a passion for designer jackets. He’s recently shared photos where he’s rocking a Louis Vuitton x Human Made work jacket, and his most Instagram post shows him staying warm in a Dior puffer.
Actually, he seems to be a big fan of puffer jackets. Seeing as Oklahoma City gets pretty cold during the winter – and being smack dab in the middle of Tornado Alley, often gets hit with twisters, hailstorms and the like – having a few toasty puffers in your wardrobe is a smart move.
All in all, Giddey’s style doesn’t reinvent the wheel or anything, but he dresses consistently well and cuts a sharp figure. Indeed, the only thing that looks better than his wardrobe is his moves on the court. We’re keen to see his style continue to evolve… And for the young Aussie to keep dominating the NBA.’
Josh Giddey Cars
Josh Giddey owns a few cars, including a white Chevrolet Corvette C8 and a black Range Rover Sport.
His favourite car, however, is his BMW M8 Competition Coupe, which he often drives to and from practice. Powered by a meaty 4.4L twin-turbo V8, this Batman-esque grand tourer makes 460kW/750Nm and rockets from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and 0-200km/h in 10.6 seconds.
Josh Giddey Jersey: Where To Buy A Josh Giddey Jersey
As well as quickly making a name for himself in the NBA through his lethal skills on the court, Josh Giddey is easily recognised on the court by the number 3 jersey he proudly wears as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Fans of the Thunder and Giddey alike can show their support for the player by purchasing his jersey, which is available for sale in several places. One option is the official NBA website, which offers a wide selection of Thunder gear, including jerseys, hats, and more.
Alternatively, fans can visit Stateside Sports or Rebel Sports, both of which are well-known retailers of sports apparel and merchandise, to purchase Giddey’s number 3 jersey.
Whether you’re watching Giddey light up the court on game day or simply looking to show your support for one of the NBA’s rising stars, owning a jersey with his number on it is a great way to get in on the action and show your love for the sport.
Josh Giddey Rookie Card: Where To Buy a Josh Giddey Rookie Card
For those who may not know, a rookie card is a trading card that shows a player’s first year in the league. Collectors often want them because they mark the start of a player’s pro career and can increase in value over time.
How much a rookie card is worth depends on factors like how well the player performs, how rare the card is, and how good its condition is. With Giddey rocketing up the rankings after only a couple of seasons in the NBA under his belt, you can be pretty sure his rookie cards are a solid investment.
Your best bet for finding one would be on a marketplace site like eBay, or on a speciality collector’s site, like Sports Card Investor or comc.com. Don’t delay, as Giddey’s rookie cards are already selling for well over $1000 and are set to skyrocket.
